Putting George Orwell's '1984' into context - short video

In week two of the AS Media course we discussed briefly the various reference points to George Orwell's chillingly prophetic and influential novel, 1984, and how they relate to today's media and society.

In this short video below, you will gain an understanding of the main themes of the book; hopefully you can then make firmer connections to the world we live in today, particularly with the issue of being constantly watched, whether on close circuit television, road cameras or our personal details being observed every time we log on to the internet or use a mobile phone.

Don't have nightmares...

Welcome to my AS Media group for 2012-13

Hello!

Welcome to my A Level Media blog, 'Passionate Bright Young Things' (a bar of chocolate for the first person to tell me where this name comes from!).

Within this regularly updated resource I will be posting relevant information for the lessons I teach in order to assist with your knowledge, understanding and revision.

I will always link the blog to the AS Media group on Facebook and also recommend it throughout the lessons.

I will also ask you to refer to the blog for some assignment, research and revision purposes as well, so get in the habit of coming on here.

You will also be producing your own blog and adding to it throughout the year.
